I'll be focusing my recommendation on MX style switches as they make up the majority of the market.

I'f you're having trouble deciding what switches you might like, consider getting a switch tester pack, try to find one that comes with a mounting plate so you can get the best representation for how the switch will feel in a board.

While entirely up to personal preference though I recommend beginners stick with switches where the actuation weight is below 70 grams, I personally believe having a switch too light for my liking is better than the fatigue that comes with a switch that’s too heavy.
